For one of the events of our traveling series “Music Take-Away”, a group of art-delegates from 56 Stuff took a train and went to the nice town of Novgorod. Scaly Whale was among them, and he was not too lazy to bring along a complicated and weighty set of various electronic devices. Without limiting himself to just one luggage item, the artist packed even some fun additional tools — for instance, a brick-shaped noise generator.

After visiting local historical sights, fellow musicians moved to a place of their main interest that day — a cultural center called Dom. In Russian, this title means “a house”, and that was exactly it: a moderately big, standalone wooden building. Quite surprisingly for the ones not in the know, there was a fully-functional concert venue inside, with a proper sound system and a wide screen for video projections. As we love to play music at unusual places, that was a chance we couldn’t pass up.

Among other happenings of that spring evening, there was a live set by Scaly Whale. Thanks to modern digital technologies, you can feel the bright mood of that performance — in the form of audio recording.

Recorded at Dom cultural center, Novgorod.
