“Viju:” festival moved, “56 STUFF” soundgame cancelled

Festival of visual arts “Viju:” has been moved: it will take place at another location and in another date (July 30 – August 1). As organizers report (in Russian) the cause of this urgent change is an emergency cituation with forest fires.

We have to inform you that for this reason the soundgame with "56 STUFF" artists Cycle Hiccups, Yellowhead and Denis Davidov (see the previous news hereafter) will not take place at all.

Playing with sounds at “Viju:” festival

A number of artists from “56 STUFF” music label will come to “Viju:” open-air festival near Moscow to construct, create and perform a piece of music that will be based on a sound climate of the event. Every festival guest will be invited to make his own contribution to this artistical endeavour.

During the first two festival days “56 STUFF” sound crew will take a post in a special 56-pavilion and will begin to collect and record various sounds. Sounds of different origin and character. Sounds, reproduced by festival guests and participants. Sounds, which will be brought on to life with a help of some instruments, voices or via any sources at hand. The third day will be designated for learning, exploring and conceptualization of recorded material. On the last evening an audience will get a live performance — special music composition based on collected recordings which will be performed together by Yellowhead, Cycle Hiccups and Denis Davidov.

Search for “56 STUFF” pavilion in a territory of the festival and make your audio-contribution to the unique collaborative project!

 “Music Take-Away” in St-Petersburg
MTA in St-Petersburg

In sign of our especially good feeling to Peresburgers and also because we just can't stop, we decided to make a “Music Take-Away” party in the city of St-Petersburg for the second time. However, the first one was enough far back — at the end of 2008, when we have started our MTA series.

The main thing is still the same: you came to party with your flash memory drive, we record on it mp3 copies of our selected releases. What is about musical program for the evening, it will include three live-sets at once — from ABC Galaxy (Izhevsk), Yellowhead and Scaly Whale.

The main feature of 'Music Take-Away' events is, as we're boldly implied, an option to take our music away. In order to get free mp3 copies of our releases you had to do only two things — to be in a right place at a right time, and to bring a USB-compatible flash memory drive.

For this time the right place is Novgorod, Russia — a group of our art delegates will perform live in Centre for Culture “Dom”.

 Foolk in Glitch.cz podcast

Glitch.cz, a Prague-based promoters of breaks, wonky, dubstep and music of similar styles, started their own podcast. The authors plan to build each issue on a live-sets of two musicians from two different countries.
For the first time they invited “56 STUFF” artist Foolk, well-known to you, and Shipwrek from San-Francisco. Both of them are noticeable so, without many words, we just give you the link for downloading and listening:
